One of the reasons of low productivity in rainfed areas is the mismatch between kharif and rabi crops and their respective varieties. Since kharif crop planting, especially the rice is totally dependent on rainfall, use of any rice variety in this season not only determines its productivity level, it also affects the productivity of the rabi crop, particularly the wheat which follows rice.
