This paper outlines the potential of agroforestry systems for soil conservation. Agroforestry refers to land use practices in which trees and/or shrubs are grown in association with crops or pastures. It is emphasized that agroforestry both to barrier an cover approaches in erosion control. In the paper it is shown that there is a considerable scarcity of experimental data on this subject and therefore its other aim is to indicate the research that is needed if this exiting prospect is to be set on a sound scientific basis ";
