CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Peat-IMPACTS Indonesia

Within Peat-IMPACTS Indonesia, we started an initiative, named #PahlawanGambut. #PahlawanGambut is a program to gather knowledge, learning, understanding and various ideas related to sustainable peat management by activists, researchers, commercial actors, farmers and the young generation in South Sumatra and West Kalimantan. This collection of knowledge will then be used to jointly strengthen the governance and stakeholder capacity in Indonesia's peatlands. As part of #PahlawanGambut, we are currently implementing the Peat Young Research Incubator Program (Program Inkubator Peneliti Muda Gambut/IPMG), which is a training and capacity development program for young men and women in South Sumatra and West Kalimantan organized by ICRAF through Peat-IMPACTS as part of #PahlawanGambut. The aim is to produce young cadres who cares of peatlands and are ready to contribute to sustainable peatland management. This program invites 25 women and 25 men of young graduates from tertiary education in South Sumatra to work for 3-4 months with ICRAF researchers, peat farmers and peat activists in South Sumatra and West Kalimantan to expose various knowledge, lessons learned and intervention options for peatland management in South Sumatra and West Kalimantan. The activity is suitable for individuals who are full of energy, enthusiasm and motivation with an interest in environmental issues, livelihoods and solutions research. This project, Improving the Management of Peatlands and the Capacities of Stakeholders in Indonesia (Peat-IMPACTS Indonesia) is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag. This project will run for four years (2020–2023) in Ogan Komering Ilir District, South Sumatra and Kubu Raya District, West Kalimantan.
