Using deep learning and data from 30 countries, it identifies small-scale croplands as the dominant cause of forest loss, particularly in Madagascar and DRC. Commodity crops like cacao, oil palm, and rubber drive deforestation in western and central humid forests, while cashew expansion impacts dry forests in western and southeastern regions.
