Carbon markets and food systems

A harmonized, project-level dataset merging carbon crediting project information from two primary sources: (i) UNFCCC mechanisms, notably the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and (ii) major independent standards compiled in the Berkeley Carbon Trading Project database. The dataset includes only projects that have issued carbon credits and applies a simplified, food-system-oriented typology to enable quantitative analysis of agriculture-, land-use-, and food-system-related mitigation activities in international carbon markets.

Dataset's Files

This dataset compiles carbon credit project information from the CDM and Berkeley Carbon Trading databases. It contains (1) a harmonized project-level table with IDs, titles, countries, project types, sectoral scopes, and methodologies, and (2) a classification matrix mapping CDM project types and subtypes to Berkeley categories, sectoral scopes, and food-system linkages. It enables consistent comparison and analysis of carbon credit project classifications across registries.
