Description

Pollination and partners are assessing an investment into a large-scale afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation (ARR) carbon project located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. CIFOR contributes to this by leading a technical due diligence of the project.

The project aims to restore degraded forest landscapes and increase biodiversity on a 256,079 ha parcel of land by establishing native species plantings, and the development of a high quality, high integrity carbon project, targeted for registration under Verified Carbon Standard's Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation methodology. This work aims to validate the technical aspect of the project, which result in a detailed technical report, refining the existing carbon model and eligible areas for planting, providing guidance on HCV and CCB requirements, general project risks and mitigants including in relation to community engagement and FPIC matters and recommending a planting and implementation strategy including high-level implementation cost.
