CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Mieke Bourne

I lead Regreening Africa, which is regenerating land in eight African countries from Ethiopia to Senegal. Community and evidence driven, it deploys local knowledge, as well as agroforestry and water and soil management, such as composting and Zai pits, to restore 1 million hectares of land for 500,000 people. I co-developed the stakeholder approach to risk-informed and evidence-based decision-making, a demand-driven, tailored, interactive engagement for co-negotiation of decisions for mutually agreed upon outcomes. I have 13 years’ experience in natural resource management, ten in global tropics with a focus on Africa. I also have extensive experience with the Western Australian State Government and land care groups, working on estuary, catchment and river projects.
