The fifth session of the Science-Public Policy Dialogue Platform in Peru will discuss research and public policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from peatland degradation in the Peruvian Amazon. Scientists from CIFOR-ICRAF, the University of St Andrews (Scotland), and the Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP) will present recent research results on peatland conservation, management, and opportunities for climate change mitigation. Likewise, implementers of conservation projects in peatland ecosystems will explain the progress of the efforts focused on the Marañon datem area. At the end of the session, the results of these studies and project implementation are expected to provide new knowledge and reflections to public policy decision-makers. In return, comments by government specialists will serve to inform research opportunities.
This event is physical and by invitation.
