Christopher Martius is Senior Advisor to CIFOR-ICRAF’s Climate change, energy and low-carbon development team, which he led for eight years. He holds a PhD in Biology (Ecology) from the University ofGöttingen, Germany, and has over 30 years of leadership experience in interdisciplinary approaches to development and climate change. He has worked in Brazil, Indonesia, Central Asia and the Caucasus, and Africa. He coordinates several large research programmes related to climate change mitigation (REDD+), resilience of forests and people to climate change, low-emission food systems, carbon credits, and the bioeconomy. Chris has published over 200 scientific articles on climate change, forestry, tropical ecology, soil ecology, and agriculture in scientific journals. He co-edited 12 scientificbooks, and he co-authored over 150 infobriefs, policy briefs and other communications to the public.
