Tree planting is an integrated part of the Ethiopian government’s policies. Already in 2011, Ethiopia launched an ambitious plan to become a "green economy front-runner" by 2030 in its Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) strategy (FDRE 2011). The afforestation and reforestation also aim to meet targets set in the National Determined Contribution, Long Term Low Emissions Development Strategy/ LT_LEDS, the sustainable development goals, Africa Agenda 2063, and multilateral environmental agreements (EFD three-year plan, unpublished).
