Des centaines de milliers de petits producteurs à travers le monde, à l’instar du Mali, doivent adopter une agriculture intelligente face au climat, si l’on veut satisfaire la demande alimentaire croissante. Le projet ‘SmAT-Scaling’, ou ‘Mise à échelle des technologies agroforestières en harmonie avec le climat’, financé par l’USAID à hauteur de $12,2 Million sous l’initiative « Feed the Future », est mis en oeuvre (2014-2019) par un consortium piloté par le Centre Mondial pour l’Agroforesterie (ICRAF), en partenariat avec Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), World Vision (WV), Inter-Church Cooperation (ICCO), Mali Biocarburant S.A. (MBSA), KISSIMA Industries, Zabbaan Holding, l’Institut d’Economie Rurale (IER) et les Directions Régionales d’Agriculture, et des Eaux et Forêts (DRA & DREF). Le projet vise à augmenter la productivité agricole, l’accès au marché, les revenus des ménages et la consommation des produits agroforestiers pour un meilleur état alimentaire, nutritionnel et de santé des bénéficiaires, en particulier des femmes et des enfants.
