CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Community Based C Meas4

The document discusses engaging communities in carbon measurement to make the process more cost-effective, accurate, and gain community buy-in. It outlines the benefits of community-based carbon measurements such as leveraging local knowledge and making more project resources available to communities. It also presents a case study from Tanzania where community members carried out biomass and carbon measurements at a lower cost than professional measurements. The document proposes building on existing community measurement materials and engaging communities in carbon measurement as part of the Community Based Project activities.
