CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Soil Macrofauna - Milipedes, Centipedes

Millipedes aid in cycling nutrients through feeding and excretion activities back into the soil, they fragment, consume and transform litter to accelerate its decomposition increasing the content of available phosphorus in soil. In the other hand, centipedes are predators and feed on other soil organisms as well as pests and returning nutrients into the soil. They also make tunnels which helps in soil aeration.
