CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Young scientists' "elevator pitches", ICRAF Science Week 2015

Opening session of Science Week 2015, held in Bogor, Indonesia for the first time, 14-18 September: a tour of ICRAF through young scientists' short promotional speeches of their ideas. As part of taking stock of where we are, who we are and why, we take a tour of ICRAF through young scientists' "elevator pitches" of max. 3 minutes each, with a panel of agroforestry research advocates and ambassadors (Tony Simons, Cathy Watson and Hector Cisneros) responding and commenting. An "elevator pitch" is supposed to get across to an audience a) the importance and relevance of a topic; b) the key questions research tries to answer with credible methods; and c) the "appeal" and "connectivity" that the scientists have with external partners and supporters.
