CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Research on the Coupling Process and Driving Mechanisms of Biodiversity and Blue Carbon Function in Mangrove Ecosystems

Research on the Coupling Process and Driving Mechanisms of Biodiversity and Blue Carbon Function in Mangrove Ecosystems

Duration: March 2025 - March 2027

Description

This project aims to select typical mangrove wetland research sites within West Papua, West Kalimantan, and North Sumatera, conducting historical data collection and field surveys. This is combined with the research areas and sites in Hainan, comparing carbon stock, carbon pool composition, and carbon sequestration mechanisms across different mangrove regions. It also unravels the coupling mechanisms between biodiversity and carbon sequestration function.
