Michael oversees CIFOR-ICRAF´s ambitious global Communications, Outreach and Engagement (COE) Directorate, one of the world’s leading science communications programs. He heads a global team of over 50 staff in 30 countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America. COE manages five major websites and hundreds of mini sites, produces 900 publications a year, and has nearly 30 social media profiles reaching over 125 million people annually, with 7 billion impressions on traditional media channels. Under Michael’s tenure as Digital and Communications Lead for the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) – the world’s largest forum on integrated land use – GLF’s audience has tripled, now reaching 1.5 billion people from 185 countries. Michael also spearheaded the shift towards digital and hybrid events, with single events achieving up to 600,000 views and reaching nearly 80 million people on social media channels. Michael is a communications professional with 25 years’ experience with international organizations, NGOs and the private sector worldwide. He holds an MA in Communications for Development from Malmö University in Sweden.
