The Agroforestry and Forestry in Sulawesi: Linking Knowledge with Action project (the ‘AgFor Sulawesi project’) has been developed for implementation in three provinces of the island of Sulawesi Indonesia (South Sulawesi Southeast Sulawesi and Gorontalo) from 2011 until 2016. The ultimate outcome of the project is to enhance the agroforestry and forestry livelihood systems of rural communities in Sulawesi. In order to support the project a baseline survey was conducted. One of the main objectives of the survey was to study the general characteristics of types of livelihoods in the community local farming systems and the existing land use systems in the area based on community perspectives. Two unit analyses were used in the livelihood baseline study: a) household level; and b) community level. This report provides the baseline data of household units in South Sulawesi.
