CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Alain Touta Traoré

Alain Touta Traoré is a Geographer and specializes in monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs. He holds a degree in Environmental Management.

Alain is currently the country representative for the Belgian NGO Solidagro in Burkina Faso and Mali. Solidagro defends the right of peoples and states to independently determine their own food and agricultural policy. This is achieved through programs that support the dissemination of agroecological practices and the diversification of community diets.

Previously, he led the Tiipaalga Association in Burkina Faso for 10 years, where he coordinated the implementation of conservation and restoration projects. He worked in local development programs that dealt with land management issues prior to joining Tiipaalga Association.
