Dr. Beria Leimona is the Theme Leader for Climate Change, Energy, and Low-Carbon Development at CIFOR-ICRAF, with over 20 years of experience in climate and sustainable finance. Her expertise spans payment for ecosystem services, voluntary carbon markets, and sustainable commodity investment in the forest, agriculture, and agroforestry sectors. Dr. Leimona leads research-for-development projects, fosters global networks, and drives resource mobilization for climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives. She focuses on inclusive financing, gender-responsive community-based natural resource management, public-private partnerships, and sustainability standards. Her work promotes climate resilience, enhances livelihoods, and supports jurisdictional approaches to sustainable landscape management. In addition, she has served as lead author for two Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) reports, contributing to global assessments on biodiversity and the valuation of nature.
